Obituary Notice:
Ernest D. "Ernie" Lokerson, Jr., 78, of St. Petersburg, FL, died Friday, February 19, 2010. Ernie was born in Freehold, NJ and moved to St. Petersburg in 1970 from Sanford, NC. He retired from Publix Supermarkets, was an active member of Friendship Baptist Church, and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by a son, David P. Lokerson; 4 daughters and their spouses, Cindy L. (Cliff) Clayton, Marie E. (Skip) Haskins, Sandra L. (Roger) Green, Barbara R. (Nat) Brittingham; a sister, Patricia Trout; stepson, Jimmy Corbin; stepdaughter, Paula Potts; 8 grandchildren, Casey, Shane, Paul, Christopher, Kylie, Carly Jewell, Candace, Alicia; and 6 great grandchildren, Noah, Emma, Nathan, C.J., Cameron, and one on the way. He was predeceased by his wife of 23 years, Ruth.
The memorial service will be 5:00 P.M. Monday, February 22, 2010 at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Fred V. Cooley officiating. His final resting place will be at Bay Pines National Cemetery.
A reception will follow the memorial service in the Fellowship Hall of Friendship Baptist Church.
